Costume Makeup - The Foundation Of Your Character

Makeup can make or break a costume for many characters. If you're planning to dress up as a vampire, an alien, a pirate or any number of other things, the costume won't be complete without the right makeup.

If you're going to use makeup as part of your Halloween costume this year, there are a few things to keep in mind.

First, practice applying it before the big day. There's nothing more frustrating than trying to get your makeup just right an hour before your big party, only to find out it's not as easy as you thought.

If you practice putting it on ahead of time, you'll know whether you need someone else's help or not. This is especially true for men, who probably don't do their own makeup very often!

Another thing to consider when buying your makeup is the quality of what you choose. At Halloween, most stores sell makeup for costumes, but a lot of it is pretty low quality.

If you have any skin conditions or allergies, this cheap makeup can cause problems. Look for hypoallergenic brands and ideally, shop at a store that sells makeup for stage and film - this will be a much higher quality than you'll get at your local discount store.
